    Preface

Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital-Pingtung Branch (LCVH) is located in the southeastern part of Pingtung County in Longtan Village, Neipu Township. The hospital occupies an area of 11 hectares. This lovely site consists of sandy land near a river, with a view of majestic Mt. Tawu to the east. Originally founded as the "Longcyuan Veterans Home," the hospital was reorganized as the "Longcyuan Veterans Tuberculosis Hospital" on July, 1, 1957. It was renamed the "Taiwan Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital-Pingtung Branch" on September 1 of the same year, and was finally reorganized as the "Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital-Pingtung Branch, Veterans Affairs Commission, Executive Yuan" in November 1966. The hospital was incorporated into the "National Medical Network Development Plan" in 1986; major facilities and development programs were largely completed by 1997. LCVH was designated a "Regional Hospital" from 1980 to 2004 by the Department of Health (DOH).

LCVH is responsible for providing health care to community residents and veterans in northern Pingtung County, and also provides medical support for the Pingtung Veteran's Home and Nantz Nursing Home. We have worked hard to recruit more professionals, acquire more medical equipment, boost efficiency, and enhance medical quality since the government implemented National Health Insurance in March 1995, and we were designated a "Regional Teaching Hospital" during the same year. Besides providing medical treatment and health care, we also support and engage in cooperative work-study programs with Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital, Kaohsiung Armed Forces General Hospital, Kai-Suan Psychiatric Hospital, Guoren Hospital, Tajen Institute of Technology, Pingtung University of Science and Technology, and regional health clinics and various private clinics.

We will continue to care for the health of local veterans (and their families) in line with the members of the Veterans Affairs Commission, perform overall planning of the medical care of community residents, and actively build "community medicine" and "community health development" service networks in order to satisfy community residents' need for medical care. We will strengthen our medical care quality, adopt a customer-oriented service concept, and practice the core value of "health, sharing, quality, and concern." We hope we can realize our vision of "providing superior community medical care and sharing the blessing of health."
